Emergency & Urgent Care

We have a veterinarian and trained veterinary professionals on staff six days a week to provide attentive and timely care for your pets. If your pet has ingested a toxin, been involved in an accident such as being hit by a car, or if you have a male cat that is struggling to urinate, these are considered urgent medical concerns—please call the clinic immediately. If you believe your pet is experiencing an emergency, do not hesitate to call or come directly to the clinic. Calling ahead is strongly encouraged, as it allows our team to assess the situation, provide immediate guidance, and prepare for your arrival to ensure the most efficient care possible.

In addition to emergencies, we offer urgent care services for non-life-threatening conditions that still require prompt attention. If your pet needs to be seen the same day due to illness, injury, or sudden changes in behavior, our staff will make every effort to fit you into the schedule. While we strive to accommodate urgent cases as quickly as possible, wait times may vary depending on the severity of incoming patients. Upon arrival, our veterinary assistants will check you in, assess your pet’s condition, and provide an estimated wait time so you know what to expect.

Our Belmond office can be reached at (641) 444-4161 during regular business hours. For after-hours emergencies, Dr. Griffioen’s phone is forwarded directly to him, allowing you to reach a veterinary professional when the clinic is closed. We are committed to being available when your pet needs care most and to guiding you through any urgent or emergency situation with compassion and expertise.
